Last weekend, My idea www.sootano.com Won at the Startup Weekend Nairobi.

We are now competing against hundreds of other ideas world wide at the Global Startup Battle.
We stand a chance to win $20,000 as seed funding from Google.

Startup Weekend

The past weekend of  22nd to 24th November the StartupWeekend Nairobi version was held at iLabAfrica. This is a global event that aims at bringing together programmers, developers, marketers, designers, start-up enthusiasts among other diverse groups, to form groups and develop viable business ideas in 54 hours.

The event was facilitated by Julian Ferr from South Africa. Also in attendance was  Njeri Rionge, one of the founders of Wananchi Online and a globally renowned entrepreneur in Kenya. Njeri was recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of Africa’s most successful serial entrepreneurs. In her key note speech, Njeri noted that Investors are looking for startups with a clear business model backed by passionate people who understand product and market.

There were 25 ideas pitched during the 60 secs elevator pitch session. This required one to convince the audience on the viability of the idea. The pitches were followed by…

Day 2 update – Affiliate Marketing Journey


Well to say the truth, I didn’t know any one would be interested in my Affiliate marketing journey. But to get 6 people liking your post and you have never got any likes before, makes me smile. Thanks.

So today I have not got any kind of tangible result.

My New facebook page has not really kicked in yet 14 likes so far; Yes I am doing advertisements but I figure it will take sometime because I get the required number of likes before I start really marketing on it.

None the less, I want to increase my Facebook page likes so I have decided on two get more likes by signing up on Like exchange sites. Addmefast(.)com
Thinking whether to buy likes or not, anybody with experience in that area if you could give a tip on that I would appreciate it.
Another thing I will do to increase my facebook likes is by commenting on other Same Niche pages as my page. And I don’t want to be spammy because I don’t want to be banned.
I have posted 4 posts on the page, But I realize most/all of them are for monetizing my offer So I have decided to stop posting promotional message, instead am getting 50 Very funny Memes and posting them on the page. 
I hope this will bring more activity to the page taking the fact that I will be advertising them.
Share 10 posts in groups each day, and wait for the results.

Apart from facebook traffic, I am also researching email lists.

My Affiliate Marketing Journey


It’s almost 2234 Hrs in Nairobi as I write this.

I believe I have read enough and its time I take some action.
I started out on internet Marketing sometimes back in 2011, I have never had any significant success but to cut the long story short, I am now working as an Internet Marketing Strategist for various firms in Nairobi. So the only time I get to do my own projects is in the evening and during weekends when I don’t have a rugby match or a Roadtripke tour to attend.

I believe in the power of recurring income/passive income. That is the reason I am starting this journey. I have done my research, I have found a good Affiliate offer to promote.

I have figured where I will get the traffic and how I will also add monetization to it.

So today being the first day, I am setting everything up. I won’t disclose what affiliate I chose to use, nor would I disclose the Website that I have set up.

I am using a WordPress site and the theme is CTR theme.

I have created a Facebook page and also setup a Facebook ad in order to drive traffic to the website.

Checklist

  1. Found a Good High converting offer with a high Cost per conversion (80%)
  2. Setup an Affiliate account for promoting the Product.
  3. Setup a Website for driving traffic and converting the visitors to Clients
  4. Run the ads and wait for results
